Essential Outlander Tour - 8 hours
Travel in VIP luxury through time to where it all began. Imagine yourself being transported back to the 1740s, just as Claire did; follow in the footsteps of Claire and Jamie as they tried to stay one step ahead of “Black Jack” Randall. Before heading back to Edinburgh, if time permits, we will make a brief stop at the picturesque port which doubled as the French port of Le Havre. This is a full day tour which will allow you the time and opportunity to visit each of the locations. Cost of entry to any of the locations is not included in the cost of this tour. This tour can be customised but our usual destinations begin with:
Lallybroch - Midhope Castle is instantly recognisable as the home to Jamie Fraser. Stand at the iconic arch where Jamie is lashed by Black Jack Randall. Its a lovely short walk from the parking lot and the castle is in a beautiful country setting.
Fort William - Blackness castle is again a location where Jamie Fraser is punished by Black Jack Randall. This dark, cold, windy castle was an actual prison in recent history, creating the perfect atmosphere for this gory scene.
Wentworth Prison - Linlithgow Palace is where Jamie is help prisoner and Claire negotiates his release with Black Jack Randall. Sadly Claire falls ill and is rescued by Murtagh. The palace itself dates back at least 600 years and was the birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots.
Castle Leoch - Doune Castle is home to the Clan Mackenzie in the Outlander series. You will recognise the courtyard and the kitchens of Mrs Fitzgibbons. Its a stunning, quirky castle with history dating back 600 years
Cranesmuir - The ancient buildings of Culross are stunning and in the show it is where Geillis Duncan. Laoghaire's cottage where Brianna is helped back to health when she injures herself after coming through the stones is also here. The West Kirk in Culross was actually the Black Kirk. Culross Palace's gardens were used as Claire's herb garden and some of the rooms were rooms inside the Palace of Versailles.
Inverness - The medieval village of Falkland acts as the setting for the opening scene set in the 1940s. Mrs Bairds guesthouse is on the main street as well as the fountain that Jamie's ghost stands against.
