Andy Became Our Friend Dear Andy,
What can we say about Scotland that is not superlative?... read moreDear Andy,
What can we say about Scotland that is not superlative? We have seen most, not all, of Western Europe 25 times. We found the Scots to be affable, gentle, polite, unassuming, cultivated, funny, and witty. Their history is fascinating and their culture splendid.
We spent 7 days in Edinburgh and 5 days on a radius about two hours away. We tried to see everything of cultural and historical value in Edinburgh, sometimes twice. I need not itemize this for you. Our hotel was in the New Town, which is itself a monument.
On our days away we went to Culzean Castle, Stirling, the Trossachs, St. Andrews, the Fife Coast, including the bridges across the Firth of Forth, the Falkirk Wheel, Rosslyn Chapel, and the Border Abbeys. I need not describe these in detail either.
In short, were you to ask us which of these 25 trips has been the best we would reply without hesitation it was this one. One reason is, in this trip we started with you as our guide and ended the trip with you as our friend. You made every effort to show us places we wished to visit where you had not been before, made us feel at home, and shared with us the history and culture of your captivating country.
Again, we thank you.

This was my first time in a cab tour, and hands-down it beats any bus tour I have taken in the past. It was great to have the flexibility to make minor detours on fly - for example, on the way to Scotland's "Secret Cold War Bunker", he spotted a castle on the hill that he was not familiar with, and asked if we might want to hike up and check it out - which of course we did, and so we got to see Balvaird castle in Perthshire. Andy is knowledgeable on all the sights and really explained a lot about each location. This was also my first time in Scotland, so that was very helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend Edinburgh Cab Tours to any of my friends. read less

Andy was easy to work with during the planning process, taking care of all of the details including lunch and other scenic stops along the way. On tour day, Andy arrived bright and early with a smiling face and an infectiously positive attitude (did I mention I'm not a morning person?!). We all thoroughly enjoyed Andy's company throughout the day. His knowledge of Scottish history is impressive and certainly helped to paint a more colorful picture of the historic sites we visited. After our castle tour, Andy joined us for lunch at the most charming seaside restaurant and challenged us to try some local staples (trying to revive our Scottish roots). We then ventured on to St. Andrews at Andy's suggestion. We stopped for coffee, shopped at the cutest little bookstore, and got pics at the Swinken Bridge (again Andy's suggestion, we know nothing about golf but boy oh boy, people thought we were pretty cool when we shared those pics!). We made one final stop on our way back to take in the scene at the Forth Bridges. A perfect way to end the day. Our tour with Andy was the highlight of our trip. We can't wait to go back and spend the day with him again. Highly, highly recommend!! read less

I contacted Andy months ago to arrange a day's tour. This was very important to us as it was to be a trip to my wife's first visit to her mother's hometown of Leven.
Andy arranged the day so that we could see the sights of Edinburgh early in the morning and arrive in Leven in time for lunch with relatives.
We were able to catch the first tender and arrived on shore an hour ahead of our scheduled meeting time. Andy was there less than 15 minutes later!
We were all amazed at how quickly we got off the boat, but thankfully we were able to take full advantage of that extra time because Andy was so early.
The tour of Edinburgh was spectacular!
We saw the castle from at least a dozen angles and Andy's knowledge of the key sights both historical and mythological was thorough and entertaining.
After lunch in Leven we went to St. Andrews and had a delightful tour of that amazing area.
Our only regret is that we couldn't spend a week with Andy showing us the amazing sights of Scotland. read less

On the way back into Edinburgh we stopped off to visit some hairy coos in the field. You can go into the field and pet them if you want. Andy is very knowledgeable on the area, history and an all around great guy. Our van was perfect for our journeys. Another benefits using Andy over another tour is flexibility and not being rushed nor herded like cattle at the sites. His time is your Time. We were looking for someone to take us from Edinburgh to the Jim Clark museum at Duns and then on to Chirnside to Jim's final resting place. Andy replied really quickly with a proposed itinerary and we are so glad that we went ahead and booked!
Andy took care of all the arrangements for us, booking the museum tickets and a table for lunch at the Jim Clark cafe in Duns. On the day, he was great company and not only took us to the places we wanted to visit but a couple of additional Jim Clark related sites too. Having the foresight of taking an excellent bottle of whisky for a toast at the graveside was a lovely touch. During the journey, Andy pointed out places of interest and enlightened us with a little Scottish history.
I would highly recommend Andy to anyone looking for a tour or driving services around Edinburgh. He was so helpful, friendly, reliable and punctual and an absolute pleasure to spend a day of our holiday with. read less
